Megadeth bassist David Ellefson blended his passion for metal in addition to his faith in a lecture yesterday March 17. Having recently becoming a Lutheran pastor, he spoke on Martin Luther as well as the theology of heavy metal lyrics in Edmonton, Canada.
The occasion was held at the Tegler of Concordia University of Edmonton and was sponsored through the Canadian Centre for Scholarship and the Christian Faith (CCSCF), in addition FaithLife Financial in part of the Reformation five hundred celebrations.
Speaking about the lecture on a Facebook post Ellefson exclaimed, “The similarities are remarkable and enjoyable for all!” The director of the CCSCF, Dr. Bill Anderson, mentioned “Ellefson will without doubt entertain and educate at this fascinating event.”
Ellefson has also studied at Concordia Lutheran Seminary in St. Louis and started the MEGA Life Ministries, which serve as being a satellite of Shepherd of the Desert Church (LCMS) in Scottsdale, Ariz. The bassist recently delivered a non-denominational church service at the Megadeth Boot Camp held in March 2017.
In April, Davis Ellefson will celebrate the grand opening of his coffee shop called, “Ellefson Coffee Co.Shop.” Already establishing a line of coffee being provided, the coffee shop will have a variety of Megadeth song title related blends such as Roast in Peace, She Wolf, Kenya Thrash and Urban Legend. There will be as merchandise and memorabilia related towards the coffee business as well as being the bassist’s EMG Label team.
